  Alice's Adventures in Wonderland  (commonly  Alice in Wonderland ) is an 1865 English children's novel by  Lewis Carroll  (a pseudonym of Charles Dodgson).   A young girl named  Alice  falls through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world of  anthropomorphic  creatures. It is seen as a prime example of the  literary nonsense  genre.  Its play with  logic  gives the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. Verbal Elements Writer’s Purpose  - Lewis Carroll himself identified his purpose as simply to  entertain a young girl , Alice Liddell who was the daughter of the Dean of Christ Church College. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a children's picture book designed, illustrated, and written by Eric Carle, first published by the World Publishing Company in 1969, later published by Penguin Putnam.   Verbal Elements Writer’s Purpose  - The purpose of the writer of this literature is to teach the children to know how to manage self control as they growing up. He wanted the youth to open their eyes to the possibilities of being greed in anything that they wanted. Plot Summary - The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a story about  a small caterpillar who emerges from an egg and begins eating everything on his sight . He consumed all six days of eating fruits, sweets, and “junk” food, and he gets a stomach ache. Finally on the seventh day, the caterpillar decided to eats a “nice leaf” and feels much better.
